Kaolin Clay

What is it? Rocks that are rich in kaolinite are known as kaolin or china clay. Kaolinite is a clay mineral, part of the group of industrial minerals, with the chemical composition Al2Si2O5(OH)4. It is a layered silicate mineral, with one tetrahedral sheet linked through oxygen atoms to one octahedral sheet of alumina octahedra. You’ll find quite a lot of cosmetic and cleansing products using kaolin.

Where do I buy it? Anywhere from $10-$14. It's a very affordable clay especially compared to Rhassoul Clay

When should I use it? Using it as a deep conditioner after freshly washing your hair.

How do I use it? For your hair, create a mud mask with just water or with other oils, honey and/or AVJ. Apply on scalp and hair and cover with shower cap fro 20-30 minutes and then rinse out. For your face, use oils and water and then apply to the face and leave on for 10 minutes or until dry and then rinse.

Why use it? If you have chronically dry hair, Kaolin Clay is an ideal cleanser that won’t rob your hair of moisture. It absorbs toxins on the hair and scalp, increases strength and elasticity, and can help slow the aging process of hair. It also has an ability to dry the skin & has uses to fight acne as well as increasing localized circulation, which can contribute to fighting inflammation.
